Design Network

Associated to the area of excellence Supply Chain.

Context

Network design determines the structure of a business network and influences its costs and performance. This covers a range of strategic decisions, such as determining the number, size, and location of facilities in the Network, and can include tactical decisions (such as distribution, transport, and stock management policies) as well as operational decisions (such as meeting customer demand).

Why?

To improve the operational, tactical, and strategic decision making of network design by integrating uncertainty, collaboration, sustainability, and artificial intelligence.

How?

  • In-depth exploration of the current situation, both within the company and in academic literature.
  • Identifying existing gaps and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Modelling the different facets of the supply chain and its operations.
  • Establishing relevant simulation scenarios.
  • Assessing and contrasting the different scenarios proposed.
  • Creating mathematical optimisation models.
  • Exploring the potential of artificial intelligence in the field of network design.

Who?

Supply Chain Director, Logistics Director, Supply Chain Analyst.

Haythem SELMI (Ph.D. Researcher — Consultant)

Haythem holds a double engineering degree from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble and the École National d’Ingénieur de Tunis, complemented by a PhD in industrial engineering from the Université Paris Saclay. He supervised and coordinated research work for the ‘Industrie Du Futur’ project, carried out in collaboration with Kedge Business School, Airbus Atlantic and the Civil Aeronautics Research Council. Its aim was to develop collaborative strategies for improving supply chain flows. Within Square Research Center, Haythem will lead the R&D project entitled “Supply Chain Network Design”.
